Garbage for 23rd April - St George's Day
Hi all!
Finally recovered from Tuesday and of course there is no way I can read my
notes as I was well on the way to beer nirvana by the time the run started.
Much like Loco actually and it was his fault as he insisted we have a beer
before I set the run. OK, here goes…………….
Rehash Garden City H3 1600 run from The Twisted Hop in Woolston.
A fine team arrived at The Hop to pay their $10 and receive the 1600th patch. This enabled the purchase of the subsidised beer and wine etc. The pub was not expecting many others that morning but by the time we were ready to run the place was humming.
The pack was called upstairs to the function room for the brief and then the runners
sent off to the right and the walkers left. The trail was an absolutely
brilliant concoction of twists, turns, checks, check backs, false trails and,
and ( maybe the hare should not write the garbage!!!) finally, on Johns road a
run walk split took the walkers straight to the piss stop while the runners did
a tortuous route via playing fields and new housing estates. The stop was at
the home of Atholine Pierre who’s husband gave me a job when I first came to NZ
. Here, hot pies, feijoas, Walnuts, chips and dips and all the beer etc was
free. Last in was One Loos who for some reason was left behind. A few fines
were dished out while the guzzling went on and then the pack was sent On
home.
Back at the hop it was a general meelee to get a beer while the Morris Dancers led by
another friend of mine, Trevor Robinson, started thrashing about with sticks
and hankies to some squeeze box music, while trying to egg Firkin into joining
them. STD was also seen running wild eyed for the stairs at one point. But no!
It was Mr W Plank who succumbed to the whiles of the Morris and joined them in
their last dance. Not a pretty sight I can tell you ! Mind you I saw pluto
tapping his feet and he had that wild Morris look on his face. All good
entertainment and the cheap beer was going down well.
Upstairs again for some fines and food with most buying something to supplement the
chips and breads provided by the pub.
Some of the fines I can read!!!!
Loco and Fingers forgetting the patches that they had been given back at 476 sparks.
Dunny Duck, a visitor from the Faroe islands who we probably will not see again as she
admitted in the later stages of the evening that she is a Greenpeace activist
and will be in court in Sweden later in the year for breaking in to a Nuclear
Facility there.
Stephen, the owner of the Hop for having us
Jeremy Thompson, complete in full evening dress for being an ex East Grinstead Hasher
who knew we were going to be running from the Hop but declined to join us. When
I said he would be fined he e replied that it had better be a full pint like
they did back home! So it was!
Navi fined Pluto for something to do with a chair?? Also Glo Worm for not helping
Loos fined for walking
Vasie for rubbing her crutch
SIF for something
007 dobbed Glo Worm and or Frigid
Vasie gave the POTW to Loco
Brunhilda fined for turning up
Planks for Morris Dancing
A couple of shirts were given away along with a hat……and that was that!!
Apart from a lot more drinking and some roast beef and Yorkshire pud and dropping
Dunny Duck off in Cashmere where she was couch ssurfing and also drinking a
bottle of bubbles in the hop to celebrate the engagement of the woofers staying
with Jeremy Thjompson and then drinking a lot of whisky at home with the same.
